Alicia Keys’ New Way of Getting Fans off Their Mobile Devices During Concert

It’s crystal clear! Alicia Keys doesn’t want to see you using your phone at her concerts anymore. But rather than ban phones from the venue, she’s turning to a Silicon Valley startup to keep her shows smartphone-free.

Yondr is a company dedicated to creating “phone-free spaces” at concerts, events and other places. To get into one of these spaces, cellphones need to be sealed in one of the company’s lockable pouches.

The pouch stays locked inside the phone-free zone but unlocks once you leave it, so your phone is only a short dash away in an emergency.

Yondr founder Graham Dugoni told The Washington Post: “If you haven’t been to a phone-free show, you just don’t know what you’re missing. There’s something about living in real life that can’t be replicated.”

The company’s stated aim is to eliminate distractions at concerts and help people engage with the performance, something many artists want from their fans, too.

During a recent show, Adele told a fan who was filming the performance: “You can enjoy it in real life, rather than through your camera. … I’d really like you to enjoy my show because there’s lots of people outside that couldn’t come in.”
But phone-free zones also make it a lot easier for artists to keep their work from getting surreptitiously recorded and posted online. Dave Chappelle, an early supporter of Yondr, started using the service because concertgoers kept posting his material to YouTube against his wishes.

Are We Seeing Double: Jennifer Lopez Side by Side her ‘Shades of Blue’ Stunt Double

Are we seeing double? On Tuesday, Jennifer Lopez was spotted filming a scene for her cop drama, Shades of Blue, in Queens, New York.

The chart-topping stunner was joined by her stunt double, who — despite having a similar build – looked nothing like the Las Vegas performer.

The ladies stood side-by-side with matching wavy bobs, long-sleeved blouses and skinny jeans.

Lopez plays Harlee Santos, a cop who has been forced by the FBI to work as a double agent, on the hit show.

On June 16, the “Booty” singer took to Instagram to tease fans about the show’s second season, writing, “Harlee’s baaaaccck… #shadesofblue#season2 #HarleeSantos #NBC.”

Lopez has certainly been juggling lots of work these days, in addition to her Vegas residency and work on the NBC series, she’s also voicing a character in Ice Age: Collision Course all while raising her twins, Max and Emme.

NFL Ninth Season: DeSean Jackson Durability On Fleek

Image+DeSean+Jackson+Baby

The Redskins figure to have one of the best passing attacks in the league this year with the addition of rookieJosh Doctson, a more developed Jamison Crowder, a growing star in Jordan Reed, a returning sure-handed vet in Pierre Garcon and the now more durable speedster in DeSean Jackson.

And yes, the latter descriptor is something of a change. DeSean Jackson mentioned last week on “Redskins Nation” that he has his durability on fleek, considering he missed much of training camp and then most of the season with a hamstring injury he suffered in the season opener.

Then consider that Jackson has an extra incentive to stay on the field and make even bigger plays this season. His son, DeSean Jackson Jr., is just seven months old at this point, but he’s already made a major impact in the way Jackson approaches this year.

“Quite frankly, I didn’t think [parenting] would be this cool,” he said at his annual Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Classic on Saturday. “That dude turns me into a different person, different player, motivates me to go out there and just want to do great for him.”

Jackson missed most of the voluntary OTA workouts over the last few weeks, spending more time with his son and the rest of his family, including his mother and grandmother, in California.

[Entering Ninth NFL Season, Jackson Focusing On Durability]

“You hear the reports that I forfeited my workout bonus, and would have loved to be here,” Jackson said. “But my family is something on the other side of the spectrum that pays off big, too.”

It’s hard to blame him. During the season, the schedule is such that it prevents Jackson from taking long trips across the country. As his son grows, he wants to be part of that development as much as he can be, without sacrificing the team’s cohesion.

“It good because he’s active and I remember my mom always getting on me for not being able to sit still so now it’s like I get to relive that all over again with my son,” Jackson said on “Redskins Nation.” “He’s jumping off walls at seven months. He’s standing up on his own, he’s crawling everywhere and try to hold him and sit still but he’s just moving everywhere. It’s a blessing and I’m happy to be a father for the first time.”

As he participates in minicamp this week, he will keep Jr. on his mind, because playing well isn’t just about his own ego anymore. He wants to ensure a legacy.

“I’m very dedicated, I always have been losing my dad at a very young age,” Jackson said. “But now [it’s about] having a son and knowing everything I need to do to make him be able to be close to me or better.

Stacey Dash Really is Clueless!

Image_Stacey_Dash_CluelessStacey Dash really is clueless! Seriously, who writes her checks besides BET (Black Entertainment Television)? We’ve been trying to figure out her “Clueless” political thing. Now, she’s going after President Obama and Democrats… Repeat offender!

Image_Orlando_Dash_Tweet

The former 90’s sweetheart-turned-clueless and controversial political queen, let her Twitter fingers do
all the talking yesterday in the aftermath of the 49 people who were tragically murdered by terrorist, Omar Mateen, in what is now dubbed as the Orlando mass murder. It isn’t our place to judge at TSP. Your political beliefs and affiliations are your own. However; we do judge ignorance and insensitivity. Stacey Dash shows ignorance and insensitivity as she took to Twitter and somehow found a way to imply that Mateen is a representation of Democrats and that his actions are President Obama’s fault. Truth be told, Ms. Dash has pockets of intelligence, but her statements are oftentimes clouded with inaccurate information and misguided perceptions. So there’s not much we have to write about this, because this “Clueless” star’s tweets speak for themselves.

Wait, there’s more…

STARZ’s Power: New Premiere Date, New Time Slot Announced

Tasha and Ghost

In a move that shifts the show from its regular Saturday evening timeslot, TSP has learned that the Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson-produced drama is set to premiere Sunday, July 17, and will include 10 one-hour episodes – although whether that proves long enough for James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) to get out of the crime game remains unseen.

“This club, this life — this is who I am now,” drug dealer turned nightclub owner Ghost emphasizes in a brand-new trailer. There’s just one problem: the number of individuals aiming to get their hands on Ghost is quickly mounting. Among them? Well, that’d be 50 Cent’s character Kanan, who seems to have emerged from his brawl with Ghost in the season 2 finale gunning for his former friend’s head.

“There’s representation of this lifestyle in every cop film that you’ve seen. But it’s the guy that jumps the gate and ends up in jail, not the one who finds success,” says Jackson on the show’s glossy take on criminal culture. “When you show that side of it, it [speaks] to the rebellious streak in all of us.”

“Together, we’ve really constructed a world where all the choices are deliberate,” shares creator and

showrunner Courtney Kemp of collaborating with Jackson on the forthcoming season’s storyline. “Ghost has no idea how to just be James, and how to let go of his Ghost persona entirely. He doesn’t know how to go straight. The theme of the season is ‘Be careful what you wish for.’ But is there something within Ghost that keeps him from being that person he wants to be?”

COUNTDOWN: SEASON 3 EPISODE 1- FULL EPISODE

Muhammad Ali The Greatest of All Time

Muhammad Ali
The sun was blazing and you could see steam rising from the asphalt in the downtown streets of Washington DC. Hundreds of passer-byes engrossed in their own activities,  too consumed to notice what was going on around them.

Many hustling to catch their next train, others in random conversations with colleagues, vendor stands on every corner with crowds swarming. For me, this was my lunch hour. The time for me to walk around and just watch and observe the masses. There was so much to ingest when suddenly I look up and see this overwhelming being of energy before me. It was undoubtedly, Mr. Ali. He was walking about the city alone with no escort, no bodyguard and no media. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Was I dreaming? The champ looks so real, so young and in shape just like all the pictures and movies. (Yes, I was having a real kiddie moment) No, it wasn’t a dream at all, it was truly him. So, I nervously approach him and say, “Hello, Mr. Ali, nice to meet you”. He towers over me with a slight hunch and says “This ain’t Embassy”. (Uh, I think) Assuming he was talking about the Embassy Suites, gave him two alternative directions. To be honest, it didn’t really seem like he was retaining the info, so I hurriedly grab my pen and little pink note pad to ask for an autograph before he ventured off.

Mr. Ali graciously signs with a little hand-quivering going on. In my head, I remember the words “Wow, the Greatest of All Times”. It was like floating like a butterfly in sheer amazement to be in this moment. His demeanor was that of a humble giant and when he spoke, he mumbled every expression. His voice wasn’t as prideful as it was in his youth.  I stare down at the autograph like it was a shiny new diamond bracelet or something.

That notepad is long gone now, but the memory will last a lifetime. It was truly a #sparklemoment. I was so excited to get back to the office boasting to all of my co-workers. It was something to brag about then and it’s still as precious for me to share now.

Muhammad Ali "You My Opposer" Like all mankind, Muhammad Ali had his downfalls, but his activism and influence is widespread. He is the G.O.A.T. Strength in and out of the ring.

During his later years, Mr. Ali did so much for the research and studies of Parkinson’s Disease. Let’s hope that his legacy never goes in vain. Rest in Paradise

Philly Soul Singer Billy Paul Dies at Age 81

(April 24, 2016) This year just keeps getting sadder in the world of music, and this one really hits us hard. Legendary Philadelphia soul singer, Billy Paul, has died at age 81. Paul actively performed for a half century, but was best known for this chart-topping 1972 hit, “Me and Mrs. Jones.” It was without a doubt one of the most lauded soul songs ever — after overcoming some initial controversy — and Paul made it his own with an expressive delivery over pristine Gamble & Huff production.

Paul (born Paul Williams) grew up in Philadelphia in a household where jazz ruled.  He attended Temple University and Granoff Music School, and soon after was performing locally, covering virtually all types of popular music to growing crowds.  By the late 50s he was appearing with Jazz and Pop stars such as Charlie Parker and Nancy Wilson and cut his first record,  “Why Am I,” for Jubilee Records.  He later teamed with upstart record executive Kenny Gamble for the live jazz album, Feeling Good At The Cadillac Club and the more soulful Ebony Woman.

Things broke out for Paul, though, when he signed to Gamble & Huff’s new Philadelphia International Records and recorded 1972’s 360 Degrees Of Billy Paul.  The disc’s high point, “Me and Mrs. Jones,” was beyond huge, hitting number one and becoming a Grammy winner and one of the year’s biggest hits.  Despite the stark lyrical theme of continuing adultery, audiences were drawn to the irresistible bass line and to Paul’s right-on vocals.  The accompanying album also became a big hit.

Paul’s follow-up single, “Am I Black Enough For You?”, drew its own controversy, and failed to chart high – perhaps stalling his crossover success. But while Billy Paul never matched the success of that hit, he continued to churn out successful music for the rest of the decade, landing a sizeable hit with “Thanks for Saving My Life,” and placing several other songs on the charts, including “Be Truthful to Me,” “Let’s Make a Baby,” and a cover of Paul McCartney’s “Let ‘Em In.” Throughout this time, Paul was fearless in putting messages in his music, even as radio and others found controversy in his work.

Paul moved from label to label in the 80s and 90s with limited success, but was a consistently popular concert draw.  He formed Billy Paul Management and Production and began working with other Philadelphia-based artists.  He also continued to perform around the world well into the 21st Century.

Pop music fans may have only known Billy Paul for a single song, but what a song it was. And soul music fans will remember the much deeper catalog of soul and jazz recordings and live performances that kept Billy in our minds right until this sad day. He will be missed and remembered.

The Legend Affectionately Known As Prince

It has come as a great shock to many around the world, his untimely death on Thursday. An influx of thousands upon thousands of heartfelt tributes showered in for the ARTIST and have extended — appropriately — on his musical genius.

The words escape our minds when it comes to the extent of sorrow felt around the world for the loss of the Icon. But, this pop star also had a great sense of humor and could literally harmonize the entire Yellow Pages.

The Sparkle Page tributes one of the best demonstrations of which came in 1997 when he appeared on The Muppets as “The Artist Formerly Known as Prince.”

After dawning a county accent and running from an alligator dressed as a dog, he shows off his “Musicology” in a skit where he proves that he can get ideas for a song from “anywhere” — hence, the jingle about breakfast food called “Starfish and Coffee.”

According to the expectant mom, their other kids “are excited” about the upcoming addition.

“They are trying to pitch in at home,” Tiny beamed. “King has already bought the baby gifts. He found some socks the other day for the baby.”

She added that, this time around, her 35-year-old husband is “much more involved” with her pregnancy than ever before.

“I think it’s because it’s a girl,” Tiny explained. “His protective nature is already coming out.”

The Xscape singer also opened up about her pregnancy style, which can be difficult for some celeb moms. But for Tiny, “Dressing hasn’t been tough because I dress comfortably and I don’t wear a lot of heels. I’ve had to get some different pants to accommodate my stomach, but that’s about it.”
