Last backtrack, shall we? When we last saw James “Ghost” St. Patrick, he was handcuffed and on his way to prison, with special thanks to his then girlfriend and U.S. DOA, Angela Valdez.  Simultaneously, we witness Ghost’s son, Tariq, being kidnapped by rival Kanan.  On the receiving end, Tasha, the estranged wife of Ghost opens a picture of her son being held captive.  To make matters worse, Ghost’s best friend and business partner, Tommy was conspiring to traffic drugs through Ghost’s nightclub (Truth) without his knowledge. Chance the Rapper Raises $100,00 for Charity at Birthday Bash: Recap

Chance the Rapper Raises $100,00 for Charity at Birthday Bash

On Sunday (April 16), Chance the Rapper celebrated his 24th birthday by giving back to those in need. While partying at Studio Paris Nightclub in Chicago, Chance raised over $100,000 for his charity SocialWorks, Billboard can confirm.

SocialWorks caters to the empowerment of the youth through the arts, education, and civil engineering. Tickets were reportedly being sold last week from $100-$2500. Despite the steep prices, avid Chance fans were able to see their favorite rapper in action along with performances by Ludacris and T-Pain.

“The night was a huge success with Chance’s ability to rally the community to donate for a great cause,” said managing partner of Studio Paris, R.J. Melman to Page Six. “We are proud to play a part in it and are honored to have been chosen by Chance as the place to throw his party.”

Chance also had a huge cake to bring in his 24th birthday. The cake was designed to look like a Harold’s Chicken Shack bucket with a strawberry Mistic alongside it.

In addition to SocialWorks, Chance launched the New Chance Arts and Literature Fund last month to aide Chicago public schools. His initiative came shortly after he made a hefty $1 million donation to his hometown’s public school system.

BREAKING: Serena Williams is really 20 weeks!!!

YAS! Serena Williams is really 20 weeks pregnant or 5 months, however you want to say it. Even though she just announced it to the world … she’s barely showing.

She just posted a profile pic of herself in a one-piece swimsuit and captioned it, “20 weeks.”

Sources connected to Serena say it’s exactly what it looks like … she IS pregnant, even though her reps aren’t confirming yet. So much for all you nay-sayers (insert emoji –pokes out tongue).

Serena got engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian back in December. If you do the math, it kinda adds up. Looks like they might be celebrating with a vacation.

Dave Chappelle Paying Tribute to Charlie Murphie

pizap.com14921291727401

Many people were introduced to the late Charlie Murphy via comedian Dave Chappelle’s comedy sketch show. Murphy and Chappelle gave fans many funny, memorable moments. Chappelle paid homage to Murphy at John Mayer’s concert by sharing that everyone in comedy was hurting.

Dave Chappelle Honors Charlie Murphy:

Dave Chappelle honored his friend and Chappelle Show cast member Charlie Murphy while making a surprise appearance at a John Mayer concert in Columbus, Ohio Wednesday. While welcoming Mayer to the Midwest, Chappelle and Mayer joked about their friendship and how they often hang out late. Telling John that he was a sight for sore eyes because he learned some heartbreaking news about the late Charlie Murphy. Referring to one of Mayer’s previous performances, he asked that the lights be sexier as Mayer began to play a song entitled, You’re Gonna Live Forever in Me.

Today, I got some terrible news, Chappelle said. My good friend, Charlie Murphy, passed away this morning, and everybody in comedy is heartbroken.

The comedian and Mayer reminisced about Murphy’s legendary “True Hollywood Stories” sketches on Chappelle’s Show. Dave shared how he originally asked Prince to participate in that sketch and he adamantly told Dave “No”. Later, Chappelle revealed that Prince wished that he had participated in the skit. They both shared how they loved Murphy’s phrase about Rick James as Charlie called him a “habitual line stepper”.

John, if you would, there was a night, maybe four months ago, where we were at Hotel Café in LA,” he said. “You were doing a show for 120 people. You went to the piano and you sang this song, and the song you sang that night reminded me of my friend, Charlie Murphy

As Mayer beautifully played, Chappelle shared that the world loved Charlie Murphy’s comedy, his stories, and his spirit. Asking the audience to put away their phones, Chappelle aspired to have the audience store a memory in their mind and not their phone. Of course, someone captured the moment on their phone and it was beautiful.

Famous in his own right, Charlie Murphy was the older brother of the legendary Eddie Murphy. He passed away on Wednesday in New York City at the young age of 57 after a battle with leukemia. A battle that Murphy withheld as many people did not know that he was suffering from cancer.

Prior to his stand out performance on Chappelle’s Show, Murphy worked as a stand-up comedian and acted in many movies such as CB4, Lottery Ticket, Player’s ClubSpike Lee’s Mo’ Better Blues and Jungle Fever. In working with his brother, he co-wrote Vampire in Brooklyn and 2007’s Norbit. After Chappelle’s Show, Murphy continued to tour and was slated to appear in the upcoming season of ” Power”.

Rest in peace, Charlie Murphy. You were so loved by many.

Charlie Murphy Kept Cancer From Power Cast & Crew

Charlie Murphy Hid Illness Secret from ‘Power’ Cast and Crew

CHARLIE MURPHY KEPT CANCER FROM ‘POWER’ CASTMATES

EXCLUSIVE

There is much to be said about television personality and brother of comedian Eddie Murphy. One thing that was a mystery to all is his battle with Leukemia. Charlie Murphy kept his battle with leukemia so private, most people who worked with him on “Power” had no idea he was sick.

Show producers — which stars 50 Cent — said they had no idea Charlie was dealing with cancer. We’re told he never told anybody on set and put in the work like everybody else.

Charlie played a prison guard named Marshal Williams on the show.

Family sources tell us Charlie only disclosed his cancer battle to very close friends and family members. It is said that he didn’t want his illness to define him.

Allegedly there were some family members who knew he was struggling but were shocked when he died … they didn’t know the situation was that desperate.

A rep Starz, where the show airs tells us, “Starz sends our deepest condolences to Charlie’s family and friends. He joined ‘Power’ for our upcoming season, and his talent shines in every scene. We were fortunate to have worked with him.”

He will be missed by many.

Alicia Keys’ New Way of Getting Fans off Their Mobile Devices During Concert

It’s crystal clear! Alicia Keys doesn’t want to see you using your phone at her concerts anymore. But rather than ban phones from the venue, she’s turning to a Silicon Valley startup to keep her shows smartphone-free.

Yondr is a company dedicated to creating “phone-free spaces” at concerts, events and other places. To get into one of these spaces, cellphones need to be sealed in one of the company’s lockable pouches.

The pouch stays locked inside the phone-free zone but unlocks once you leave it, so your phone is only a short dash away in an emergency.

Yondr founder Graham Dugoni told The Washington Post: “If you haven’t been to a phone-free show, you just don’t know what you’re missing. There’s something about living in real life that can’t be replicated.”

The company’s stated aim is to eliminate distractions at concerts and help people engage with the performance, something many artists want from their fans, too.

During a recent show, Adele told a fan who was filming the performance: “You can enjoy it in real life, rather than through your camera. … I’d really like you to enjoy my show because there’s lots of people outside that couldn’t come in.”
But phone-free zones also make it a lot easier for artists to keep their work from getting surreptitiously recorded and posted online. Dave Chappelle, an early supporter of Yondr, started using the service because concertgoers kept posting his material to YouTube against his wishes.
