Tax Cuts: Trump Understands A lot of People Work Hard and Feel Like They’re Not Getting Ahead

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump proposed dramatic cuts in corporate and personal taxes Wednesday in an overhaul his administration asserts will spur national economic growth and bring jobs and prosperity to America’s middle class. But his ambitious plan is alarming lawmakers who worry it will balloon federal deficits.

The plan would reduce investment and estate taxes, helping the wealthy. But administration officials said several other tax breaks that help well-to-do taxpayers would be eliminated and the plan would largely help the middle class.

The White House has yet to spell out how much of a hole the tax cuts could create in the federal budget, maintaining that the resulting economic growth would eliminate the risk of a soaring government deficit— if not actually cause the red ink to diminish.

The outlined changes to the tax code are the most concrete guidance so far on Trump’s vision for spurring job growth and fulfilling his promise to help workers who have been left behind by an increasingly globalized economy.

“He understands that there are a lot people who work hard and feel like they’re not getting ahead,” said Gary Cohn, director of the White House National Economic Council. “I would never, ever bet against this president. He will get this done for the American people.”

Still, the proposal leaves a series of open questions that could affect its impact on taxpayers and the economy.

The administration wants to reduce the number of tax brackets to three from seven, but it has yet to determine the income levels for people who would be put in each bracket. It also has yet to spell out how the plan would stop wealthier Americans from exploiting a lower corporate tax rate to reduce how much they pay. And the White House has downplayed the threat that the tax cuts could cause the deficit to surge, possibly eroding support for the plan among lawmakers in Trump’s own Republican Party.

Cohn said Trump and his administration recognize they have to be “good stewards” of the federal budget. But the plan as it currently stands could cause the federal deficit to climb, unless it sparks a massive and lasting wave of growth that most economists say is unlikely.

Administration officials intend to hash out additional details with members of the House and Senate in the coming weeks for what would be the first massive rewrite of the U.S. tax code since 1986.

“We know this is difficult,” Cohn said. “We know what we’re asking for is a big bite.”

As Cohn and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin explained it in an interview, the plan would reduce the number of personal income tax brackets to three from seven: rates of 10 percent, 25 percent and 35 percent. It would double the standard deduction for married couples to $24,000, while keeping deductions for charitable giving and mortgage interest payments. The administration plans to provide tax relief for families with child care expenses, too, although the specifics have yet to be included.

On the other hand, the proposal would trim other deductions utilized by wealthier Americans. These would include deductions for state and local tax payments, a change that could alienate support from lawmakers in states such as California and New York with higher state taxes.

“It’s not the federal government’s job to be subsidizing the states,” Mnuchin said.

The administration has emphasized that the plan is focused on simplifying the tax code and helping middle class Americans. The median U.S. household income is slightly above $50,000 annually.

Still, the proposal could reduce the tax burden for the wealthy by substantial amounts, including by eliminating the catch-all alternative minimum tax, which takes an additional bite out of high-income taxpayers.

It would also repeal the estate tax and the 3.8 percent tax on investment income from President Barack Obama’s health care law. The proposal has yet to be vetted for its precise impact on top earners, as several details are still being determined.

On the corporate side, the top marginal tax rate would fall from 35 percent to 15 percent. Small businesses that account for their owners’ personal incomes would see their top tax rate go from 39.6 percent to the proposed corporate tax rate of 15 percent. Mnuchin said the change for small business owners — a group that under the current definition could include doctors, lawyers and even major real estate companies — would be done in a way that would ensure wealthier Americans could not exploit the change to pay less than intentioned in taxes.

Accidental Death Claims the Life of 13 year Old Boy on INSTAGRAM LIVE

Accidental death claims the life of 13 year old Malachi Hemphill of Forest Park, GA.

On Friday, April 14, 2017 “friends” posted on social media in a matter of seconds, life to a graphic and upsetting turn for the worse.
The death of this child has spiraled in a media frenzy, making headlines nationwide. A group of friends stood by and saw the unfolding first-hand LIVE on Instagram.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Malachi Hemphill – stufent at Babb Middle School – had just taken the trash out for his mother. When he returned to his room, he locked his door. Then, the teen logged onto his Instagram account to live streem himself holding a gun in his room.  Just moments after he started streaming, the unimaginable happened. During a new interview with 11 Alive, his mother Shaniqua Stephens recounting the sound of the gunshot she heard coming from her very own home. “I heard a big boom. I couldn’t tell if it was a gunshot or what,” Shaniqua exclaimed. “I just knew that it was something that was wrong.” Malachi Hemphill was streaming a video on Instagram Live when the gun went off. (INSTAGRAM)

Shaniqua and her daughter rushed upstairs to discover Malachi’s door locked. When they forced the door open, they made a harrowing discovery. “We kicked in the door. We found him just laying there in a pool of blood.” Stephens recounted. Her daughter also made another discovery. She noticed his phone was streaming. “My daughter screamed and said, “Mom turn his phone off!” As I proceeded to look at his phone he was on Instagram Live.”

According to several reports, an overwhelming number of Malachi’s friends witnessed the moments leading up to the shooting. Shortly after the shooting, others who lived nearby arrived at their home after witnessing the shooting. “There was about 40 to 50 kids outside,” she said. “I guess these were the kids that were watching on live that live in the area. I guess when it happened they just ran over here.”

Mourning the Death Of a Son: Needless to say, Shaniqua and her family are shocked and dismayed over Malachi’s untimely death. She also revealed the disturbing image of her son she’s been left with. “This is just a pain that will never go away,” she said. “He was my only son. He was just only 13. Just the thought of me seeing him on the floor will never leave my brain.”

Shaniqua Stephens and Malachi’s stepfather, Ernest Stephens are hoping their son’s tragic death saves the life of another child. She also has powerful words of advice for parents of other teens. “It can happen to the best parents…it can happen to the best people. The best ones that loved their kids, you know? “I just always let them know about situations and decisions,” Ernest said. The Forest Park Police Department has also released a public statement stressing the importance of monitoring children’s social media activity. The department admitted the tragedy has been difficult for everyone involved. The statement included a number of suggestions parents can take as protective measures to keep their children in the social media era. This is a horrific event for parents, children, and the police to deal with. We are asking parents to speak with their children about: The dangers of playing with guns, they are not toys. Telling a parent or other adult authority figure when they see or believe one of their friends has a gun they should not have. Telling or discouraging friends from playing with guns.

Parents should be aware of their children’s social media activities.

We are deeply saddened by this horrifying story. Our best to the families of the deceased!

“They are trying to pitch in at home,” Tiny beamed. “King has already bought the baby gifts. He found some socks the other day for the baby.”

She added that, this time around, her 35-year-old husband is “much more involved” with her pregnancy than ever before.

“I think it’s because it’s a girl,” Tiny explained. “His protective nature is already coming out.”

The Xscape singer also opened up about her pregnancy style, which can be difficult for some celeb moms. But for Tiny, “Dressing hasn’t been tough because I dress comfortably and I don’t wear a lot of heels. I’ve had to get some different pants to accommodate my stomach, but that’s about it.”
